“It’s a reminder that we are awake and alive, too: it lets us feel like we’re also a little bit sexy, fun, and exciting.” – The Guardian
SYNOPSIS
“A weird yet strangely wonderful story of adventure, love and hate, creation, frolicks, and frivolity.” – VeryTheatre
A squeaky-clean newly engaged couple, Brad Majors (oh Brad!) and Janet Weiss (Janet!) gets caught in a rainstorm on their way to meet up with an old science tutor, and makes their way to a nearby mansion. There they are met by a strange butler, an even stranger maid, and the strangest groupie who lets them in – only to find themselves amidst a group of Transylvanians who gathered to witness a science experiment. Feeling rather uncomfortable, they try to leave, but find them faced with the pansexual, cross-dressing mad scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter who encourages them to stay.
Up in the laboratory, Dr. Frank-N-Furter reveals his latest creation – a Frankenstein-style monster in the form of a young, physically perfect, handsome man.
What did Brad and Janet get themselves into?
Richard O’Brien’s iconic, showstopping masterpiece is a rare theatrical gem – it’s satire, it’s rock and roll, it’s deliciously delirious, it’s a feast for longtime-fans and first-timers alike, it’s a no-rules night at the theatre, and everyone’s invited!
“One thing is for sure, though: this show has legs. Long, fishnetted legs that deserve to run and run.” – Musical Theatre Review
CREATIVE TEAM & CAST
The world has been spoiled to 53 years of The Rocky Horror Show – audience participation and all, and is revived every 25 years on Broadway. The 2026 revival is fresh, subversive, and thrilling – and it arrives right on time! Award-winning director Pinkleton (Oh, Mary!, The Lyons, La Cage aux Folles, Can I Be Frank?, Ceilidh) is heading up the 2026 Broadway revival, alongside choreographer Ani Taj (Dead Outlaw, RUNAWAYS, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet Of 1812). The world-renowned creative team also includes the talents of set designer dots, costume designer David I. Reynoso, lighting designer Jane Cox, sound designer Brian Ronan, and musical director and orchestrator Kris Kukul.
While the official cast line-up hasn’t been announced yet, one of the most anticipated Broadway debuts ever is on the cards: Welsh actor and singer Luke Evans will be taking on the iconic role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. His acting credits in the West End include Rent, Miss Saigon, and Piaf, and he is also a regular in films, with appearances in Clash of the Titans, Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit, and Beauty and the Beast.
“It is electrifyingly good. Plan to go twice.” – League of Cincinnati Theatres
HISTORY & LEGACY
“‘Rocky Horror’ is great, and will have you up on your feet (more than just once!).” – Theatre and Tonic
Destitute and out-of-work, Richard O’Brien wrote The Rocky Horror Show to keep himself busy, combining elements of all of his favorites: B horror flicks, science fiction, the sinister dialogue of schlock-horror, Steve Reeves movies, and rock and roll. Australian director Jim Sharman showed interest in staging the musical, and The Rocky Horror Show eventually premiered at the Royal Court Theatre (Upstairs) in June 1973. Met with critical acclaim, The Rocky Horror Show was performed at various venues, and had its Broadway premiere in 1975 at the Belasco Theatre.
To date, The Rocky Horror Show has been translated into 20 different languages, has been seen by over 30 million people worldwide, and racked up no less than an Evening Standard Award and a Theatre World Award, alongside multiple Tony Award nominations and eight Drama Desk Award nominations. The musical has been ranked as the eighth most essential musicals by BBC.
The musical has been adapted into a highly successful film, starring Richard O’Brien himself as Riff Raff, and of course the iconic actor who originated the much sought-after role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Tim Curry.
One of the world’s favorite things about The Rocky Horror Show, apart from its experimental nature, its message of liberation, and groundbreaking narrative about marginalized communities, is the audience participation, including calling out lines, filling in the gaps, or mocking the characters; the use of various props; midnight performances; and dressing up as some of the characters.
“Set to a brilliant soundtrack, ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ is an outrageously funny piece of theatre that challenges society and breaks societal norms.” – Kat Masterson
